The PR presented progress of the RAI up to July 2014, the future strategies for the RAI activities in the region and the structure of the RAI website being developed at the first Regional Steering Committee (RSC) meeting of the Regional Artemisinin Initiative (RAI) in Myanmar (at Naypyitaw on 30 September 2014). The opening speech was addressed by Dr. Soe Lwin Nyein, Deputy Director General, Disease Control from the Ministry of Health and participated by the members of Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCMs) of Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar, the donors, private sector, the civil society and the technical bodies including the World Health Organization. The new members of the RSC were also elected including the Deputy Chair of RSC who is from the government of Thailand.
