NAP Annual Review Meeting – May 2016 15.06.2015

Annual review meeting of the National AIDS Programme (NAP) to review the implementation status of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care activities was held with participation of partners from United Nations agencies, international and local non-governmental organizations (INGOs and LNGOs).

The opening remark was delivered by Dr Soe Lwin Nyein, Director General from the Ministry of Health and Sports. Dr Than Win, Deputy Director General, Disease Control attended the opening session together with the responsible officers of the National AIDS Programme from the department of public health and partners from United Nations agencies, INGOs and LNGOs including the Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association (MMCWA), the Myanmar Women Association (MWA) and the Myanmar Positive Group (MPG).

The meeting (at Shwe Pyi Taw Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw from 16–17 May 2016) provided a platform for discussion to review the status of implementation of the HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment activities at the State/Regional level and to build on the success and past experience of HIV/AIDS implementation in Myanmar, and to identify areas of further support needed.

After the meeting, partners could identify the HIV/AIDS activities to scale up and reach a consensus on recommended activities for improvement on the way forward.
