The Asia-Pacific eHealth Information Network was formed to promote the sharing of health information and communication technologies (ICT) and experiences among Asia-Pacific countries. It brings together experts in the fields of health, ICT, project management, finance, social welfare, health information and health economics as well as development partners from across Asia-Pacific.

The Network has held conferences since 2012, and this year, Myanmar hosted in Nay Pyi Taw the Digital Health Conference in the Asia-Pacific and 5th AeHIN General Meeting. At its opening, Union Minister for Health H.E. Dr Myint Htwe called for strengthened collaboration among Asia-Pacific countries to improve the health information system and electronic health (eHealth) information network. “A well-functioning health information management system is as important to the success of a healthcare programme as the central nervous system is important for the body to function,” he said.

Health data transformed into health information will support more successful programme implementation, to the benefit of healthcare service delivery in the Asia-Pacific region, including Myanmar.
