Malaria Programmatic Achievements in 2018

The non-cumulative results for 2018 are shown as a percentage of the annual target. The LLINs (continous) distributed indicator is funded by GFATM.

The malaria grant has supported the continouous distribution of 775,252 (71% of target) long-lasting insecticidal bed nets (LLINs) in 2018.

Over the year, parasitological testing was conducted on 1,551,874 suspected malaria cases in public health facilities, in the community and in the private sector, with all suspected malaria cases (100%) presenting to all sectors receiving a parasitological test.

Furthermore, 27,337 (85%) of 32,108 confirmed malaria cases were treated according to the national treatment guidelines at public health facilities, community and private sectors.

This year, 70 per cent of health facilities experienced no stockout of essential malaria drugs and commodities (artemisinin-based combination therapy, chloroquine, primaquine and rapid diagnostic tests.
