During 2023, in Myanmar, the political situation continued to bring up many challenges in the way programmes are implemented in the country. In these times of crisis, PR-UNOPS and its implementing partners worked hard to preserve the continuation of essential health services so that the interventions were not interrupted.

TB Programme Achievements

In 2023, amidst the political instability in the country which brought up many challenges in the way programmes were implemented, PR-UNOPS and its implementing partners continued to maintain TB case finding, diagnosis and treatment services so that the interventions were ensured not to be interrupted.

2022

In 2022, PR-UNOPS worked closely with the public sector service providers and sub-recipients to maintain TB prevention, care, and treatment services while undertaking COVID-19 infection control measures so that the interventions were ensured not to be interrupted. 

During the year, 107,086 (77% of the annual target) TB patients were notified and enrolled in treatment. The treatment success rate was 87% (97% of the target).

During the year, 133,909 (84% of the annual target) TB patients were notified and enrolled on treatment. The treatment success rate was 87 per cent.

Provision of Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) in high and moderate risk villages continued in 2013, with 487,479 LLINs distributed (120% of target). Mass campaigns for bed net treatment resulted in 1.2 million (101% of target) nets being treated.

Year 1 saw a massive and rapid scale-up of ITNs and LLINs in high and moderate risk villages, Some 454,720 LLINs (94% of target) were distributed in malaria endemic areas and accelerated mass campaigns for bed net treatment resulted in 689,072 (93%) nets treated with KO tablets in high and moderate risk villages.
