There has been significant progress in implementation of Global Fund grants under the New Funding Model (NFM) for HIV, TB and malaria in 2015.
The antiretroviral therapy (ART) programme has been on an upward trend of coverage nationally and is providing quality services due to the sustained commitments and support from the Government, the Global Fund and many other development and technical partners. By the end of 2015, 57,535 people living with HIV were receiving ART. ART services had expanded and there were 82 ART centres and 101 decentralized sites nationwide. TB control service coverage was expanded to 330 townships by early 2015. During the year, 140,699 TB patients were notified and enrolled on treatment, of which 47,301 (88%) were bacteriologically confirmed. The treatment success rate was 85 per cent. The malaria grant has supported a scale-up in distribution of long-lasting insecticidal bed nets (LLINs), with 1,191,090 (96% of target) LLINs distributed in 2015.
