Key HIV Achievements in Myanmar 01.12.2025

As we observe World AIDS Day on December 1st, we would like to reaffirm our ongoing commitment to combating HIV/AIDS in Myanmar and highlight the key results achieved thus far.

As a Principal Recipient of the Global Fund, UNOPS ARHC is actively collaborating with key partners in Myanmar to hasten the eradication of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. Under the Global Fund grants, UNOPS provides grant management and implementation support to various entities, including the public sector, national and international NGOs, and UN Agencies. These Global Fund grants are instrumental in improving access to prevention, care, and treatment for HIV, TB, and malaria for the most vulnerable populations.

From 2011 to June 2025, the HIV grants have achieved the following:

  • 221,257 people receiving antiretroviral therapy
  • 84.1 million+ needles and syringes distributed to drug users
  • 134.3 million+ Number of condoms distributed to Key affected populations
  • 17,235 number of PWID on opioid substitution therapy

We are immensely proud of the dedication and commitment demonstrated by our implementing partners and frontline workers in Myanmar, who deliver vital, life-saving HIV/AIDS services.
