"We enjoy sound sleep and our efficiency in work improves since our family do not suffer from malaria because of LLINs that we got free of charge. We can earn more money for our family and we now have happier families with healthier children".

Since January 2011, MRCS has been implementing the community based malaria programme in Hopone, Hsi Hseng, Kalaw, Loilem, Mongkai, Nan Sang, Pe Khon, Taungyi, Yat Sauk and Ywa Ngan in Southern Shan State.

This region has a relatively high incidence of malaria with very high demand for LLINs. LLINs are distributed free of charge to beneficiaries in the villages covered by the project.

Dissemination of knowledge on malaria prevention is also part of the distribution of LLINs by the project staff. Daw Ni Ni Hlaing from Kyauk Ni village in Southern Shan State is very much satisfied with using LLINs.

"Insecticide impregnated bed-nets not only prevent us from getting mosquito bites but also from fleas, head-lice, and bed-bugs which carry germs causing diseases. We enjoy sound sleep and our efficiency in work improves since our family do not suffer from malaria because of LLINs that we got free of charge. We can earn more money for our family and we now have happier families with healthier children".
